synopsis
At ten years old, Hadley Dixon's life changed forever. Since those few tragic weeks, she's tried to keep the past buried, but old bones have a way of rising up. Grown now, Hadley can't hide any longer.
Haunted by a boy who never made it home, a woman who sings in moonlight and dances in flames, and the strange, scarred recluse who watches it all from the shadow of the pines, the time has come for Hadley to pay for her sins. They say the truth will set you free, but sometimes it extracts a terrible price along the way. Is it a price Hadley's willing to pay?

A darkly moving mystery, with a southern Gothic feel, The Grave Tender is the story of a family where no one is what they seem, the women at the heart of that family, and the extraordinary lengths they're willing to go to protect the ones they love.

Author Harassing a Reviewer?

There is tons of controversy about an Author, Andrea Smith, harassing a reviewer. So far its only been to this one reviewer, but I am still researching. Being a human being, you have to realize not everyone is going to like you or the things you do. As an artist, filmmaker, or author, you need to learn that as quick as possible.

Jan 30th 2013, A review was made: HERE; She spoke her mind and posted it. Granted, it wasn't the best review. But we all like different books and writing styles. We are not the sameLater the author commented on the review attacking the reviewer! Really? How unprofessional. Especially when your job relies on people to review your books. Realizing it is deleted now; I am in search of it.

Now the same author, Andrea Smith, has made a new book.
Black Balled. The original synopsis was removed and changed (so that it the story wasn't "too obvious".), but the story line stays the same.

Original Synopsis:

She slightly tweaked the names, ever so slightly. You know who she is talking about. Her and the reviewer. Not only did she harass the reviewer; she wrote a book out it. Can we say RUDE?! What gives her the right to verbally attack her reviewers?

EDIT: I love the support of the book community of not taking her sh*t. Also, on top of all this, Andrea Smith reviewed and gave her book 5 stars. It is basically a slap in the face to readers. Saying how she doesn't care about what we think or the time we spent reading and reviewing.
All I can say is; This is how you destroy your career.

What are your feelings and thoughts on this?
Do you think the author is justified? or not?
How would you react if an author came at you for posting a less than great review?
Will you read any of Andrea Smith's books after this event?

LETS DISCUSS
Also, if you know or have more information, that would be great!

IPSY -- Floral Fantasy -- March Glam Bag

My seventh IPSY beauty bag. Can you feel the excitement?
If you're not familiar with IPSY. They are a $10 monthly beauty subscription company. I believe when you buy 6 months or 1 year subscription you get a discount. Its a fun little treat in the mail. You get 4-5 beauty products every month delivered to your door, for just $10. Check it out here: http://www.ipsy.com/r/1dhhh?sid=ipsypoints&cid=email
pūr-lisse - pūr-delicate gentle soy milk cleanser and make up remover  - $6.50?
I have very very very sensitive skin. I am really excited to try this out. I also have an intense sensitivity to make up removers. I have tried many different make up removers made for sensitivity, but have burned my eyes. Like, Clinique, Sephora, Mary Kay, Ect. Being that this is made of really good ingredients and for sensitive skin, I have really high hopes for it.  Not only that, it smells amazing: a clean white flower, bit of citrus and a hint of lavender. I wonder how this product will work, with it be sensitive enough to clean the skin and strong enough to remove my make up. I wear Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner and it's hard to get off.
NYX Cosmetics - Butter Lipstick in POPS - $6
NYX is my bae. They are similar to a prestige make up, but for the drug store price. I love them. I own their BB Cream, many eye shadows, and several lippies. Their products last all day. Even after along day of work; even during 100+ degree concert season. When I fist saw this, I thought "Woah, that's brown and mauv-ie", but after applying it, it's perfect. It is a wonderful nude color. Made my skin look like it has a small glow and whiter teeth. I will bring this lipstick with me everywhere.
MARSK - Mineral Eye Shadow in Fifty Shades - $22.50
I am not a fan of loose powder eye shadows. I can't seem to control it and it ends up everywhere. The color is very nice. It is a charcoal-gray-black (like a soft black) and semi-pigmented. This will be nice for a smokey eye look. But it being a loose powder, It won't be my first choice of a black. That is totally subjective; personally, I feel "eh" about this product. Maybe if it came with a brush or a color more suited to my skin tone, I would have liked it much more.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up - Medium Shade Concealer - $10
A few IPSY bags ago I got the IT Cosmetics Concealer. It is magic in a bottle. I swear by it, and now my friends and family use and love it. Getting this concealer was not the same reaction. When applied it was very thin. I had to do several layers to try to get at a somewhat pleasing look. IT set the bar for concealers. Not saying that this concealer is terrible. It is a good one. But I have already found my ultimate favorite concealer, and the bar has been set very high. This is a good concealer for quick get ready's and a lighter natural look. It also has a healing agent to help rid of the acne you maybe hiding. Its a win-win.

St. Ives - Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub - $1?
Really IPSY? I'm very disappointed in you. This isn't new. This isn't experimenting. This is giving me a cheap Walmart face scrub. These scrubs are horribly bad for your skin. They strip my skin, leaving it dry and more acne prone. The "scrub" part of this product literally scratches your skin, and can cause wider pores with scarring. There are so many other scrubs to give a person. I can't even.

Total- $46
for $10 a month!
Overall
Beauty Talk Time:
Not every bag is perfect. My last three bags or so, have been ideal. But this one was barely ok. While I love NYX and I am excited to try pūr-lisse; the rest of the bag is not my cup of tea. Not saying I won't use it, but I will use other products before I consider them. I love IPSY, I feel so bad to give it a low rating. I keep re-evaluating the bag, but my reaction stays the same.
Also, the bag this month... not cute. It reminds of old motel art, the upholstery of an old doctors office chairs, or design from a shirt a grandma would wear in Florida. I don't like it. With today's trends, I thought the women in IPSY would chose something... else.
Oh well; there is always next month.

Eighteen year old Tatum Krause wants nothing more than to finish her senior year without any more drama. After the near overdose of her drug abusing mother the previous year, she moved out in the hopes of making something better for herself. However, the week before her final year, she ends up needing the help of a sexy stranger who’s about to flip her world on its axis.
Jacoby Ryan only wants one thing: to forget his past. The last two years have been filled with empty feelings and women in an attempt to stem the heartache and guilt. He’s ghosted blindly through the motions until late one night, he finds a car stalled on the side of an empty highway where he meets a beautiful girl with a haunted look in her eyes.
She has a secret, but so does he. Despite their magnetic pull, the two come to the shocking revelation their relationship isn’t so black and white. Is it possible to fight a bone-deep attraction when the entire universe is telling you it’s wrong?

Our Review of Indisputable:

about the author
A.M. Wilson fell in love with writing in second grade when she won a young writers’ contest. She spent the years following carrying around a spiral notebook, which she filled with poetry and short stories detailing the dramatics of being a young girl. When she hit her college years, she set the notebooks down and fell in love with reading romance novels. She may have attended college four separate times in four different fields, but always knew in her heart writing was her true passion. She grew up in Duluth, Minnesota and spent her summers in the cold waters of Lake Superior, but relocated to the Twin Cities with the love of her life and has two spirited children who make her world go round.

Format: 1999 version Paperback

"We all have the right to be different, don't we?"
Amazon // Goodreads

Book Time Talk:
I really liked this book. Beautifully balanced with action, romance, mystery, wit, and passion. It is not one of your typical young adult book, where 98% is about the romance of the main characters. On top of having a good plot, was the writing. It was almost poetic. It was easy to be immersed into this book with the writing; and making you feel all the feels. This book brings you into a new world. Seeing the life and traditions of being in a pack. The way they exist in their loup-garou world and in our "meat-boy" world.

When you first start this book, she will introduce a shit-ton of side characters. It can get really overwhelming. But do not worry! You don't need to remember them all. You'll eventually realize which characters you need to know. I don't understand why she brought up so many characters and details, when they only appear once or twice. It can make things confusing and make the reader not want to read it. At the same time, I get why she brought them in. To show the pack and how they operate. There were some strange parts and Vivian being overdramatic. Which I find very annoying. Luckily, they happened rarely. When you get past them, the book gets kickass.

There is blood, violence, death, and murder. But it's nothing you haven't seen on TV before. It's not all gore! I swear. Just tons of action to keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what is going to happen next.

I noticed there were lots of bad reviews complaining about the sexualization of this book. I completely understand why people may get offended from this book, from their own personal beliefs and ideals. Lets get real honest here: People think about sex. People have sex. Woah. It's human nature. Why should an author deny all thoughts or implications of sex in a book, when it is something everyone will do. It's like the author denying the character to breathe. That's how I see it. This book was not a sex-fest or an erotic book. It brought up normal teenage thoughts and action. People can deny it all they want, but we all have crazy hormones that want one thing. There is no actual sex scenes in this book. it is all implied and behind closed doors. The one thing I think people would have a problem with is with Vivian's mother, Esme, being a cougar. Esme has relations with a younger man. But what is wrong with that? Older men can bang an eighteen year olds with no harsh judgements and slut-shaming, but if a woman does that the world goes crazy. Double standard much? Vivian is a great character about how she handles men harassing her for sex. She is straightforward and says no. She does not give a second thought, give in, or do it because he begs for it. She doesn't sleep with them because they are the typical dominating alpha male that tries to scare her with their strength and threats. She is a strong woman; She does what she wants, not what other people want her to do.

I feel like everyone can relate to Vivian. She is literally part of two worlds. She has to fit into both worlds. She becomes torn and has to figure what does she want more. It's like being in school all over again. You want to fit in with everyone, but when you start to be them, you lose yourself. Eventually, you realized you aren't you anymore. Being you is what makes "you" you. There is nothing wrong with being "you".

Can't wait to watch the movie! People have told me they left out tons of information, and the ending was completely different. I'm still excited though. (P.S. It's on Netflix!)
"Once upon a time," He said in a voice that was velvet thunder, "I killed the girl I love."

5 Year Journal
Q & A a Day by Potter Style

Synopsis:
Ah! So much excitement! I did a crazy happy dance when I saw this in my mailbox. I have been wanting this book for a long ass time; and now I am lucky enough to have this book. Not to mention that it is insanely beautiful. Highly detailed and classy cover and spine. I could stare at it all day. Then the pages have gold ends. So magical. This book could be a decoration on its own, with being so gorgeous!

It is a small book. Little over 6" tall, and 4" wide. Perfect for your coffee table, nightstand, or bed side-drawer. I think the size is ideal for this book. Makes it feel more precious.

I really like the idea of this journal. I already journal on my own. More about day-to-day events, thoughts, feelings, and dreams. This book is a cute and simple way to scribble down what was memorable that day and to answer the fun question asked. Making you reflect your day, and realize how wonderful life it. I can really see this book being fun to read 5 years from now. Seeing you develop and change in 5 years.

Here are some of the questions asked:
The best part of today?
List three foods you ate today.
What makes "you" you?
What do you want to remember about today?
What did you day dream about today?
___ made you laugh.
What is your secret passion?

The questions are simple, fun, deep, or cute. This book really makes you think about your life. While I love this book fully and completely, I would have loved to have a ribbon, attached to the spine, to hold my place. The book tends to close on its own. And when the book is as thick as it is, 365 pages, I keep losing where I was. The ribbon would be an extra classy touch to the book. I still love the book all the same. People who love to journal will like this book.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this honest review.
